A South Mississippi Native

I’m Sawyer Hill Walters, a 6th-generation South Mississippian. My family comes from Jones County, where service and hard work are part of our roots.

I grew up in Hattiesburg surrounded by faith, family, and the belief that you always take care of your community.

Mississippi isn’t just where I live, it’s who I am.

Education

I spent two years at William Carey University and earned my degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.

My education strengthened my love for service, leadership, and bringing people together to solve real problems

Career In Service

  • I spent seven years in state law enforcement with the Department of Marine Resources. I protected our waterways, our coastal communities, and the safety of the people who call them home.

  • I later served as a Field Director and Dignitary Protection lead, working directly with local leaders and citizens across the district.

  • I also worked as a fundraiser at USM, helping create opportunities that will shape Mississippi’s future workforce.

Community

Since childhood, church and service have been a major part of my life.

I believe STRONG communities are built when we lift each other up.

I SHOW UP, stay involved, and work to make our district stronger everyday.

Business and community leaders on the Coast encouraged me to run for Congress. They wanted someone with energy, drive, and a record of showing up when it matters. I’m running because our district deserves a representative who listens, works hard, and never forgets where they came from. I want every family in South Mississippi to feel seen, heard, and represented.

Core Values

Faith guides my steps every day. It shapes how I lead, how I serve, and how I treat the people I’m trusted to represent.

Family is at the heart of everything I do. I come from generations of Mississippians who worked hard, loved their community, and taught me to honor the people around me.

And above all, I believe in freedom. It’s the foundation of our country and the promise we must protect for every family in South Mississippi.
